SMS

15th May 2002

Following the introduction of Webjet's WAP facility, Webjet today announced the introduction of SMS text messaging as an additional interface with its online booking engine.

Commenting, Webjet's Managing Director, David Clarke, said "Webjet customers now have the additional benefit of SMS communication facilities with our Service Centre. This is particularly relevant for business travellers, or indeed late travellers, who may not have immediate or easy access to their usual PC terminal; it means that our customers can stay in immediate, economic contact with our Service Centre for booking updates, schedule changes and general service matters. The facility supplements the Wireless Application Protocol facilities introduced earlier this month.

"The facility has been developed in collaboration with the Start Corporation, an Australian company specialising in CRM software.

"Webjet now provides a unique and total package of communication facilities, including Webcam (for interactive online consultant assistance), WAP, instant text messaging and now SMS. The facility, currently in Beta test, will be operational in the next week or so. It further cements Webjet's position at the leading edge of online travel innovations."

Webjet's ASX code is WEB
