Despite turbulent times for the IT sector, leading online travel provider, WEBJET, has chosen the tact not to panic and make changes, but to stick to its original coherent business plan and to build several alliances at a steady pace.

Today it further secured its place in the market with the announcement of its eighth strategic alliance in as many months with banking and finance vortal, themoneyshop.

The joint content agreement was announced today and promises to deliver unique interactive financial travel management concepts for launch later this year.

Mr Clarke said that the establishment of alliances with such reputable organisations is in-line with the company's business plan to provide existing and potential shareholders with a sense of confidence. "WEBJET shareholders should have faith that the company is moving steadily ahead despite a hostile environment," said the company's Managing Director, Mr David Clarke.

"The true evidence of the company's success can be seen in the ranking of website hits by Sinewave Australia. On a number of occasions, our site has hit number one, substantially out-ranking significant players like Qantas and Ansett," Mr Clarke said.

themoneyshop Managing Director Mr Greg Smith, said the alliance was a very strategic one that will provide financial services to a sector that move more money around the world than any other - the travel industry. The alliance will see the joint development of various interactive financial products that will benefit travellers during each stage of their travel funds management - before, during and after a trip.

Credit card arrangements and special deposit money accounts are on the agenda for discussion. As part of the agreement, reverse links between the two websites will offer mutual benefits to both WEBJET and themoneyshop users.

Commenting on the alliance, WEBJET Managing Director, Mr David Clarke, said that he looked forward to further enhancing the WEBJET travel experience.

"Sometimes people forget that travel is much more than just the provision of air tickets. Money management is essential during the entire travel process, and we are pleased to be adding extra value to WEBJET's already multi-tiered service ? for both WEBJET and themoneyshop customers," said Mr Clarke.

"This alliance is all about innovation, customisation and leading the pack. We are delighted to have found an expert player that meets this criteria," said Mr Smith.
