Australia's leading online travel provider, WEBJET Ltd is launching WEBSURE, a world first in Internet security and Insurance for travel sites on the web.

WEBSURE offers the customer a free insurance policy certificate which can be printed directly from the website. The policy protects customers against misuse of their credit card and for non-delivery of any product or service bought on the WEBJET website

WEBJET's Managing Director, David Clarke, said today that the policy is a world first for the travel sites on the Internet and would WEBJET customers complete and instant protection when purchasing directly from the site.

"The site already operates at the highest security levels using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol," he said. "WEBJET takes the notion of Internet security to a new level that instils further trust with the customer and works towards overcoming fear that some people still have with Internet retail."

Mr Clarke said he knew of no other travel provider - physical or online - in the world that offered a complete guarantee of service, independently underwritten and approved automatically and immediately.

Registered as WEBSURE, the policy provides a $2000 maximum value for any one claim and can be printed directly from the website.

The policy is arranged by Safetrade, and is underwritten by HIH Casualty & General Insurance Limited. SafeTrade is only available on Internet sites that meet strict security standards.

'Through our alignment with HIH Insurance, WEBJET is now able to provide enhanced security together with the lowest priced Internet fares," mr Clarke said.

"This is unique in itself as e-commerce trends on the Internet are showing us that the brand names which convey trust and confidence are changing a premium for the trust factor, therefor diminishing the cost advantage of shopping online.

"Whet we are doing is providing brand name security at the most competitive prices in the market. We are building trust with our customers."

In recent times WEBJET has listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, launched a highly successful $2.5 million marketing campaign, announced a loyalty program for shareholders with more then 20,000 shares, appointed a Senior Business Development Manager, launched an Australian first interactive real-time travel customer service technology (Webcam) and announced a number of strategic alliances including those with Primus and ISIS Communications.
