Webjet Announced in Asia’s 200 Best Under A Billion
17th November 2011
Webjet was honoured to be announced as “Best Under A Billion” by Forbes Asia at a ceremony held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong on 10 November 11.
Forbes editors picked 200 companies out of a pool of 15,000 Asia-Pacific companies with actively traded shares and sales between $5 million and $1 billion. Of these, 670 companies passed the criteria for profitability, growth, modest indebtedness and future prospects. Selection of the final 200 with entrepreneurial characteristics is based on earnings growth, sales growth and shareholders’ return on equity in the past 12 months and over three years.
“This award substantiates Webjet’s commitment in the Asian market. Webjet is the number one Online Travel Agency in Australia and New Zealand, we’re rapidly growing our hotel offering and we see Asia as a significant geographic opportunity as part of that growth,” said John Guscic, Managing Director, Webjet.
“In the coming year Webjet intends to continue dominating in airfares, continue to build our hotel business and remain focussed on our global expansion. These three focus areas underpin our commitment to deliver value to our customers and maximum return on shareholder investment,” said Guscic.
With seven years of consistent organic growth, Webjet announced at its AGM on 19 October 2011 a 23% first quarter profit increase.
“Our increased traction in America and Asia, coupled with the economies of scale which underpin our core business, allows us sufficient headroom to invest in new ventures such as Webjet Hotels,” said John Guscic.
Webjet holds the number one position on Hitwise and continues to develop its success with new platforms such as the iPhone application which has grown 27% month-on-month.
John Guscic is available for interview.
