17th September 2009

Today Webjet has announced a simplified booking process for domestic and international trips. The new third generation Travel Service Aggregator booking engine is currently running on the New Zealand site will launch on the Australian site next week.

Webjet CEO, Richard Noon said "The conversion increase we have seen from our New Zealand trials has been amazing, to the extent that if we see the same increase in Australia it could be worth in growth alone what some of our online competitor's turn over in a whole year".

The new booking engine is a product of intensive usability workshops and a development cost of approximately $300,000. "The interesting part of what we've done is to provide an intelligent layer not only in the search display but now in the checkout process, letting customers work through all the different baggage and increasingly seat selection options. The level of complexity introduced by low cost carriers in the last 2 years has made it difficult to book two or more airlines and get the baggage and fare choices right", Richard Noon said.

The third generation booking engine makes it even easier to build your own flight itinerary by adding a series of one way flights together. Commenting, Richard Noon said, "For example choosing to fly Melbourne to Sydney, to Brisbane, to Adelaide, to Melbourne with all four legs on a different carrier can be assembled in minutes at Webjet. Try doing that on another online agent or on four different airline websites".

Booking flights at Webjet has never been easier. Look out for the new third generation booking engine coming soon to webjet.com.au next week.
