Webjet Commissions 400% Increase
2nd August 2000
WEBJET Ltd (ASX:WEB), Australia's leading online travel provider, today announced that its commission earnings had increased by 400 % in the four month period since listing in April.
The significant increase in commissions has culminated in boosting company sales to more than $280,000 for the month of July.
WEBJET's Managing Director, Mr David Clarke, said that this performance has exceeded prospectus forecasts and that August results were already exhibiting equally strong potential.
"It is no coincidence that this enormous growth coincides with the success of our recently launched advertising campaign," said Mr Clarke.
He said that since the advertising campaign was launched in April, WEBJET's site activity had consistently outranked all competitors, and on a number of occasions had hit number one position above Qantas and Ansett (according to Sinewave Australia).
In recent times, WEBJET has strengthened its position in the market with the announcement of a solid raft of strategic alliances and initiatives designed to extend its reach and enhance its service provision.
Recent alliances have been struck with ISIS Communications, Primus and themoneyshop. Service initiatives include Webcam, integrated online video technology that links users to a 'real human' consultant, and Websure, an innovative insurance policy to protect WEBJET online users against credit card fraud and non-delivery of service.
