Webjet Enters Online Corporate Travel
19th June 2003
Webjet today announced that it had concluded arrangements to enter and pioneer the provisioning of true online corporate account travel management in Australia.
Commenting, Webjet's Managing Director, David Clarke, said "Based on our experience in the online leisure travel market and with an increasing profile, particularly amongst small businesses, it has become increasingly clear that there is a special market niche available to Webjet for the provisioning of sophisticated online corporate account management. We have appointed Masterworks Results Pty Ltd, a company with enormous experience in the corporate account arena and headed by its Managing Director, John Shand, who act as the sales and marketing arm of our corporate online division.
"In conjunction with Galileo we will introduce Highwire a sophisticated online booking engine which will provide a full range of online travel booking capabilities and, importantly, enable corporate accounts to control travel policy, compliance, authorization and associated reporting. These enhancements will allow companies to realize the full cost savings available today by the ease for end users to implement the Webjet product within a secure online environment.
.
The division will not involve any increase in our underlying operating cost base and will therefore add further critical mass and economy of scale to our existing leisure operations, using the increasingly strong Webjet brand as a market entry point.
"We expect to commence from approximately September/October this year."
