Webjet Extends Market To New Zealand
21st July 2004
Leading Australian internet travel company Webjet, has announced the opening of webjet.co.nz to facilitate, initially, Australian domestic flights, cars and hotels to New Zealand residents.
Commenting, Webjet's Managing Director, David Clarke said: “Approximately 800,000 travellers visit Australia from New Zealand each year and we consider the Travel Services Aggregator (TSA) with the ability to compare and transact all Australian content on the one screen will provide the New Zealand traveller with a special and unique advantage. Over half the New Zealand population currently has internet access and of the Australian visitors over 80% are repeat customers.
The TSA was developed in conjunction with travel technology specialists Galileo and software giant Microsoft and was launched in Australia in January this year.
According to Webjet Business Development Manager Dean Maidment, “we have previously only made our online travel service available to Australian residents but, given the fantastic response to the TSA we have had locally, and the large number of Kiwis who travel within Australia each year, we decided to extend our service confident that the Webjet will provide New Zealand customers with an online booking service that dramatically simplifies how they can find the cheapest Australian domestic fares available. Just as tens of thousands of Australians have already discovered, there is no longer any need to spend time clicking back and forth between airline websites to see which one has the best fare on a particular date and time. We give our customers one website with the best domestic flight display available, showing all major airlines and one simple credit card entry. Add to this the fact that hotel accommodation and car hire can be quickly added to any flight reservation using our simple shopping cart approach, we know that anyone who frequently travels around Australia will become loyal Webjet customers once they’ve tried us. It’s a matter of letting them know we are here.”
The New Zealand site is fully serviced by the existing Australian support team with customers having free access to Webjet’s consultant assistance instant messaging and webcam capability.
