Webjet Ranked 86 in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific to Online Focus
16th December 2004
Webjet attributes its 411% revenue growth to Online Focus
Melbourne, Victoria: 10 Dec 2004 — Webjet today announced that it ranked number 86 in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2004. The program is a ranking of the 500 leading technology companies across the Asia Pacific region based on percentage revenue growth over a period of three years. Webjet grew 411% during this period.
Webjet Managing Director, David Clarke, credits the company’s growth to an online focus that ensures advanced technology is carefully blended with exceptional customer service and support.
He said, “We have always stayed focused on our model of being a pure internet based travel service. We are not a hybrid and our technologies and support structures revolve around this focus. We have ensured that we offer a range of values to consumers that are clearly different to other traditional travel agents and hybrid type operators.”
“With the confidence that we continually have the best technology and the best customer support structure in place, having a recognisable and trusted consumer brand has been the other important element in building our online business. To do this we have concentrated on obtaining the right mix of traditional advertising mediums such as Television, Flight Magazines and Billboards with a variety of emerging online opportunities. This mix, in the absence of a bricks and mortar shop, provides us with a “physical” consumer presence as well as the benefits only available to sophisticated online entities.”
“Those companies that have earned a position in this year’s Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific have made a significant achievement. The average revenue growth for the companies on the list was 400 percent, and for the top five winners – 15,783 percent. The results give us strong grounds for real confidence. The increased rates of growth and exceptional performance across all sectors reflect that Asia Pacific technology leaders are back on track,” said Ian Thatcher, Partner in Charge, Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific.
The winning companies came from a variety of technology businesses and industry sectors from across Asia Pacific.
Mr. Thatcher said: “To succeed in today’s Asia Pacific technology markets, companies need to be not only customer-focused, but have the ability to adapt to changes and new technologies.
“It is also important to note that rapid growth is not limited to small businesses only – our ranking shows that over 16 percent (82) of the 500 winning companies have revenues in excess of US$100 million and about 5 percent (24) have revenues in excess of US$1 billion.”
