Webjet today announced a significant reduction in its annual technology costs, to the extent of some $200,000.

Commenting, Webjet's Managing Director, David Clarke, said "Following the successful parallel running of our new booking engine facility and its ongoing adjustment and integration with our Service Centre, we have now been able to consolidate all of our booking activities through the one booking engine which is supported by Galileo, one of the world's largest airline reservation systems.

"The impact will mean an annual cost reduction of at least $200,000 and provide an ongoing development path, in conjunction with Galileo, for enhanced facilities over the next year.

"At this time our customers will have access to:

- online booking facilities for all domestic and international published fares, including Qantas Red e-deals

- an advanced best fare finder, enabling quick access to the cheapest fare on specific flight dates

- access from WAP devices

- full access online and integration of hotels and cars in multi stop itineraries.

"The online facility is supplemented by our new development of Phone Buy which covers the provisioning of domestic holiday packages which includes speciality resorts such as the Gold Coast, international holiday packages and complex round world itineraries, as well as Webjet's specially negotiated Web e-deals.

"We will be maintaining an association with Penzance Technology with various options for the future."
