Webjet Sales Level Holding
25th March 2003
Webjet today announced that it expected turnover for March to equal or slightly better March 2002 despite the Gulf impact being generally reported in the industry.
Commenting, Webjet's Managing Director, David Clarke, said, "On current estimates we expect our March turnover to be in the range of $1.7m to $1.8m. This compares with $1.7m in March 2002. Relative to January and February this year, we have seen some drop off in international business, but domestic volumes are holding well and perhaps more importantly gross profit margins for March in percentage terms have increased by approximately 0.5% on a month to date basis.
"In our market advice on the 11th February we foreshadowed a potential impact of $200,000 turnover loss for March on international business, with a potential $3.00m to $5.00 loss of turnover to 30th June. On current indications we are doing substantially better than this, but we will continue to very closely monitor booking trends and associated advertising expenditure during the period of conflict.".
